I was selected as a writer-in-residence at the Hemingway House in Ketchum, Idaho in May. I am so grateful to get to spend two weeks in my favorite place (the beautiful Sun Valley and in particular in Ketchum and Warm Springs - all important places from my childhood). I was selected for the residency to work on a new piece - The Idea of West, A Pioneer Trilogy. A kind of folk-oratorio with songs and poetry inspired by my family's story of migration to the West in the mid-1800s. The setting is a writer’s studio apartment in the basement of the beautiful home of Ernest and Mary Hemingway, where he lived until he died in 1961, and where she continued to reside for another 20 years after. It is an honor to be included in this ongoing residency, sponsored by the Ketchum Community Library.
